Halfway through potting up said plants you remember putting the bread in a bowl with some netting over it nearby, look for it, and realise it's been dusted with compost and potting mix.

Hahahahahaha I was reading this and expected you to say someone had nicked it. Reminded me of the simpsons episode where homer stole the pie from someones window sill.
