2006 focus crank seal

Hi out there. My grandson has a 2006 CL Focus with a harmonic balancer seal leak. From what I have gleaned on the interweb, the replacement needs spacialised tools.
Is this so? No just pull the balancer off, replace the seal, chuck the balancer back on ??
