If it's from the right side, it's not the auto. Does it make the noise as soon as you shift to D? You could get someone to do that while you listen with the bonnet open. Just make sure you stand to the side of the car. [emoji3]
I've had a petrol MA and it was generally a very quiet drivetrain.
