Hello,
I've recently purchased a 1994 XR6. Its coming up for its next service soon and I would be grateful to hear any recommendations for somewhere to get the service done in Sydney. Would prefer someone trustworthy and reaonably priced, but most important is that they are familiar with the early XR6s. Thanks |

Well, here's an interesting update.
I took my car to Cresent Motorsport for a major service. Cost me $500. Barely two weeks later the top radiator hose splits and i lose all the coolant. Probably done the head gasket. The hose was in very poor condition as was the bottom one. Its a pretty fundametal miss, any apprentice mechanic can check hose condition and that shold have been done on an service let alone a major service. I am very dissapointed that Cresent Motorsport missed this - they should not have. Simple. So, buyer beware. Cresent Motorspor might be good if you want a 500hp head set up but if you want a simple service avoid them like the plague!!!!! |

What did they do for $500?
Hope your head gasket hasn't gone but a split hose won't be the cause, it would be an after affect of the engine heating up & building too much pressure so the weakest link breaks - lucky it was the rad hose. Maybe time to have the cooling system checked? Common issue with eseries - cooling system has to be looked after. Radiator flushed, new hoses, engine flushed BUT I have heard of head gaskets going after the cooling system have had the above done as then the weakest link is the 17 year old head gasket.
