When i boot it the car gets a ticking noise afterwards that goes up and down with the revs. Obviously it's lifter noise but what would actually be happening? Would it just be a sticky lifter?
The noise disappears if you drive the car normally for a while and isn't there on startup, but rev it to 4500+ and it comes back for a min or so. |

It's got so much power that the lifters don't bleed at high revs man (whatever that means ;)), I thought I already told you

Actually thinking about it more, maybe the oil pump aint cuttin' it at high revs because it's dying in the ****?

I'm gonna put my hand up as well and say that mine has done this before when I booted it next to a skyline and missed 2-3 shift, Slammed accelerator down and it revved to past redline and the ticking began and stayed for about a minute. Dont know what it was, but i've since changed the lifters so hopefully Its all good.
I'd still be interested to know what it was though! -Dan |

My guess its lifter leakdown, at high rpm the lifters cant hold the oil pressure and the lifters are leaking down.
