Hello,
I have an EL falcon and when I put the fan on, it doesn't seem to blow as hard as it should. Is there anything that can be done to it or is this normal as they get older?? Any help would be appreciated. |

Is the recirc open or shut, if its open it will blow softer.

Check that you haven't sucked something up the passenger footwell
When you put the fan on in recirc it sucks from under there I often get plastic bags stuck in the fan My fan is on its way out makes a god awful noise but it looks like a big job to swap out so I cbf for now. Still spins fine. If that fails maybe check the fan switch - could be a fault there |

Whether I have the recirc open or shut it still blows dismally!
It doesn't sound like anything has been sucked in from the footwell but I'll check it. It works on all speeds even on Boost. The only diff is that each one blows slightly more than the other, but still very poor airflow :( Are the switches easy to change? |

No dash off job. But then I think the fan is too.
You haven't got the rear vents open or something? Excuse me if that offends... |

No offence taken. Where are the rear vents? It's a wagon.

I don't know about the wagons but my GLi sedan has vents in the back of the centre console

The piece of dash around the glovebox should be able to be taken out (and EA-EDs it can, im assuming EF/EL would be similar) and on the left hand part of the heater box there is the recirc footwell duct. Its held in with four 10mm nuts, two on the outside of it and two on the inside. Undo those and it will come off, this will give you access to the fan.

XR6 Martin,

I assume you mean remove the glovebox, not the actual dash ? Got any diagrams of this assembly. My fan has developed what sounds like a leaf hitting the fan blades. I know there is no leaf there ? (I cleaned the footwell outlet not so long ago. Some vegatation came out). I think that there may be some junk I can't reach so it would be good if I could access the fan itself to give it a real good clean. By the way the car concerned is an EB series I Fairmont Ghia. |

Yeah pull the glove box out, then remove the section of lower dash around it. Then you will have access to the duct and fan.

XR6 Martin,
I removed the glove box and had a look around I could see nothing as you described. Are the instructions for EA to ED models with Climate Control ?? Steven. |
