Nope, they are not Promina. They are with a group called Budget Direct, which has brands in the UK and South Africa.

Their rates don't beat what the NRMA offered me.

NRMA's rates don't beat my corporate fleet car insurance policy either!

DONT TOUCH THEM WITH A 10 FOOT POLE!!!!

I just left them. They will NOT insure ANY mod... Nothing. Zilch!
You even look at a mod and kiss your insurance goodbye.

They were not that cheap either... RACV is only about $3 a month more for my XR6...with mods.

Been there done that. Not good at all. Take Caspers advise and stay clear of them...

My current insurance on the AU1 XR8 is around $750 per year. Budget Direct came back at $801.53. So not too bad really. Hope this helps.

But they didn't list any of my mods in their list, so I didn't tell them.

Yep. $750 for $24500 insured value. But I'm 36. No claims. No fines.

Pretty much the same as what I am now with Just Cars (Who I began my cover with today after cancelling out of the dealer chosen Allianz after 2 months). Also obviously Just cars are sweet with mods so long as they're roadworthy..

Myself and Phil have just signed up with a mob called Vigil. With all my mods, it's about $1,050 a year and for Phil it's around $1,200 a year.

I'm an insurance broker & we stopped using them 3 yrs ago as they are just such a pain to deal with (and we had a few claims declined).

I was with them until my first modification... then was given the ****.

Never made a claim, so can help you with that. But they were significantly cheaper than anyone else I had throw a quote into the hat.

Wont touch me, never tried them before.

Reccord still stands, Nrma and Just Cars are the only 2 insurance companies who will insure my car.

NRMA didn't want to know me. Just Cars wanted $4011 Shannons, Vigil, AAMI, Unique all declined.
Got pretty depressing having the car for a week, and not being able to drive it.

Lol, for the first few months i had the car insured through my old man's business but in my name the same way my old car was done. Was only $3,ooo a year but it wasn't in my name.It was done through a broker and he was a top bloke, got me a 6o% ncb.

Just cars would only give me 3o% caz of my age and 1 at fault no claim accident, told them 12 months before i got my car about it when i was thinking of buying a ba and they keep it on reccord since. Atleast i have the option to mod the out of my car with them for not even a 2o% increase in price.

I managed to get my 60% transferred from the policy I was on under my dad's name. The guy on the phone organising it all was a huge Ford fan, so he looked after me.
I just had to send in a certificate from GIO saying that if they covered me for that car they would give me the discount I already had from Dad's.
They were over $2500 cheaper than Just Cars, so I'm pretty happy. I can do some mods, but really there isn't much I want to do.

My Wife’s Hyundai is with them, they like to know everything and only insure low risk people, with low risk cars, plenty of my work mates use them to..
We paid 2002 Hyundai 5 door Accent $465, the closest we got to that was $680.
They are underwriting for other insurance company’s and hold the policy on there behalf in there name.

dont know about them but if you have RACQ in QLD ,pray your car is not stolen,as they send private investigators after you, accuse you of fraud, demand (illegal) to go to police and get a copy of your criminal record (even if you dont have one) also this costs you $35 (non refundable by RACQ) then to QLD transport for copy of your driving record, costs a few dollars also from memory,if you refuse as is your right because its actually illegal to ask for this, then you will never see your payout,so i did all this at my own expense and time off work as you cant do it after hours,i finally got my payout after 5 months , and my friends and I been accused of fraud on more than one occasion, then they refused to pay for the extra's i had listed at a higher premium,(cd system $900 and LPG conversion $1300) all done after first signing up and been charged extra to cover them then been left out of final payment of claim .

About the same as NRMA, but since I have my insurance packaged that they would be cheaper than NRMA without the concessions.

You need to look at the target market for this insurer. Its a budget insurance company. Plain vanilla type stuff. Unfortunately anyone with a handful of mods is really venturing into specialist territory.

Quote from the site:

Quote:
At Budget Direct, we believe that ‘good quality’ drivers should not have to pay a higher insurance premium to subsidise drivers that represent a ‘poor risk’.

*4.9 EF questions the technical merits of this statement but bites his tongue*
Lol, if its not obvious, a 20-something year old driver with a 90's model falcon with extractors, exhaust etc is considerd a poor risk... just look at the number of prang stories you hear kicking around on FFau...

I'll bet an arm and a leg they are ultra-competetive on BA XT, VY executive, Hyundai Getz, Toyota Camry etc etc.

BTW they are a licensed insurer and write insurance onto their own books (as opposed to JCI who write onto AAMI... who i think are part of the IAG group these days)... i have a sneaking suspicion they are owned by a UK holding copmany...
