Nothing like seeing the doted white lines as one single long white line! In a safe way of course!

Just another idiot that wont stop until he kills a kid - like what happened a few days ago with a 6 year old Sudan boy.
I do understand the police and government bringing out new laws to prevent this sort of behaviour - but at the end of the day, people are always going to do it. This bloke should hopefully get some jail time - not a confiscated car and a fine.

What a douche, he could of done at LEAST 250, if he hadnt have been a sook about it
Seriously though, thats a fair speed on a public road, maybe he shouldnt get a fine, and just receive a 12 month drag racing voucher.

Thats moving, and pretty crazy speed in the Yarra Ranges!
Although it's not like people haven't been doing this sort of thing for years, it just gets publicised more and extremely quickly via the Internet news sites now. |

caught him in "Break Neck Road" ....who could have come up with that line! hahaha.
Seriously though, I do not condone that behaviour, but if it was on an autobahn he would have been flashed by the mercs and beemers for going too slow. And in the NT it was commonplace before they reduced the limit and fatalities went up. Just my thoughts, and I know a lot will disagree. But before you do, how many of you have a speeding fine? And if a little bit over is OK, then why is a lot over not??

No, its quite possible to get to 235 in an XR8 if thats what you're referring to.
You wonder what goes through peoples minds when they start going at that speed in a public area, especially at this time of year. What a disgrace.

245 thru the yarra ranges? balls and skill..
140 on the highway I could live with, its really not that obscene and on a clear highway really not that stupid, the 245 in the yarra ranges however... and im not sure on the area or route he took but if any of it involved suburban area's the guy needs his head read.

so technically the cops have to say it's safe to continue the chase. Up here they take down your plates and stop chasing or don't start chasing 90% of the time.

We all know that speeding is irresponsible and big powered cars are capable of good acceleration and speed, but how much overspeed is considered acceptable. The Govt has made it clear there is no margin for error and imposes fines accordingly (every k over is a killer campaign). The public however seem to deem it's OK to travel at say 105 -110 on a 100kph stretch, it must be the case because I am consistently passed on freeways....law breakers and killers everyone of them. |

I disagree, as I have done 200+ comfortably on public roads when it was legal to do so, new car well maintained, dry, plenty of vision, and a road where you could see the curvature of the earth. however not condoneing it on busy roads or the M1 during peek hour, nor through suburban streets, that is moronic. by your theory of thinking the autobahn should be outlawed :

Must have been flash tuned as factory XR8's are limited to 230kph...and I can tell you the limiter really kicks you back!
He was obviously after a quick thrill but this is definitely not the best way to get one. Turning himself in shows he was either on something during the chase or his conscience came knocking on his door...

There maybe places in Australia where, if properly signed to alert other road users of the likelihood of encountering another car at high speed its "relatively safe" to allow higher speeds (like the autobahn), i think the hume should be 130, but, on the roads in question, its purely suicidal, and without the warning people pull out knowing you're only supposed to be doing the posted limit, especially at night, the speed differential between vehicles is the biggest problem, and lack of ability... For the "anti chasers" here explain to me this; how, on earth would the runner know the police had called the chase off? They simply wouldn't and would just assume they were waiting or falling behind and keep going as fast as possible. Create an environment where people know if they run they can get away and you'll encourage others to do it.... Merry Christmas to everyone by the way!
