I want to buy a pos car just to practise mantainance on it.
There's an EA I'm looking at with The engine out of it (head warped, block and transmission fine, piston rings stuffed etc). I'm not looking to do it up since that'll cost more than it's worth, just to learn of then perhaps sell as parts. I don't want to hire a tow truck since they cost a fair bit. Is there a legal way I could tow it myself on our car? We got a Diesel 4WD that can tow 2.5 tonne |

Hire a trailer or hire a tow truck, by the time you factor fuel, hire and time cost, most the time a tow truck will work out cheaper

Also he threw out the head and has the block and transmission. I was hoping to chuck these in the boot of the wagon since I don't have an engine crane to put it all back in. How much do they each weigh? |

They're gonna look at it on Friday. He thinks one of the lifters is sticking. He described it idling rough, flat spots while cold, and shaking violently at higher temps I think. |

Looks like you are getting a trailer.
I picked up my XR and that was over 40 klms away (more than double actually) and I used a trailer. Make sure you have a good tow car, make sure the trailer is in good nick ie tyre pressues, bearings. Also secure the towed car down tight.

Two people can handle a BTR.
You'll need more than two people for an engine though! |

I think the full engine weighs about 250KG, so you might be lucky if the head is off.

As for towing, I had a wreck towed the other day, approximately 40km or so and it cost $90. For the sake of me wasting hours of my time, the petrol back and forth, the $80 to hire a trailer, and the stress on my car - this was definitely worthwhile. Great guy too. Let me know if you want his number.
