Default Do you get offended when ...

... some jerk refers to your AU in a derogatory manner by calling it a "taxi"?

I know that when I first bought mine I jokingly told all my mates I'd just bought a new taxi. And if someone wants to joke with me about it I'm quite happy to do so ... nothing wrong with a bit of jibing for fun.

However I get really p!ssed off with the bogans who don't even know the first thing about AUs and they start putting sh!t on it because it's "just a taxi"!

I enjoy informing them that the AU taxi spelt the death-knell for Commodore taxis all around the country. BECAUSE the AU was simply the most reliable and cheapest taxi to operate. Thousands of taxi-drivers can't be wrong. And, if the most reliable car in the country happens to be the basis on which my T-Series was built, then I'm pretty happy with that.

I know what you mean. My cars just a forte so it is really like a taxi but when people (especially holden people) try putting my car down for being a taxi I tell them that AU's are taxi's for a reason. Thats why you don't see many VT/X taxi's because the taxi companies don't want huge repair bills.
When people try and say a car is a taxi in a bad way that just shows how little they know. Taxi's do around 4000km's a week(so I've heard) If a car can put up with that they must be good.

The last Comodore cab I saw was a vs a decade ago. 5 years since an Au was built and they still seem to be a strong percentage of the cabs, In area's I've been recently I'd say around 50/50 with the B series cabs. Who gives a rat's what people call your cars odds are the people hanging crap on them couldn't afford a T3 let alone 2

I get a little worked up when my 21c at work gives me a jibe about owning an au.
For the rest of the day I usually have him scrubbing out rubbish bins and coolrooms
I then remember how proud he is to own a totally stocko vz crummydore and laugh to myself. It is the most boring looking car I have ever seen.
At least my au2 xr6 has a unique look compared to his piece of carp.

I think the day I get offended by someone poking fun at a car, is the day I need to go into therapy. : They don't have a pulse, they are just a car. Mode of transport.

true.

I got a mate who is a holden freak and he often refers to my xr8 as a cab.... but we have a good laugh about it.

but what really pi55es me off when he starts to talk about the AU's V8Supercar history, low race wins, low round wins, No championships and NO BATHURST WINs in 4+ years of competition. :

There are many who are under the illusion that a V8 Supercar is based on their road Falcon/Commo, the only thing they share is the shape of the shell.

Some clown I work with was telling me that the LS1 race motor in the current championship is better than the Boss race motor, the idiot, then again he drives a Commodore so no surprises. :hihi:

I guess that old saying is true, win Sunday, sell Monday.

I defy you to find a crummydore with 900 000ks on it's original engine that has never had the head's off it the crappy V6 in these POS will never even get close to this with even the best servicing. my favourite cab ( an AU) that was recently retired had just over 900 on retiring and had never had the head off it is still in use as a daily drive by the cab owner and he recons it's the best run around he's ever had

Just tell them that in Germany they use Mercedes and BMWs as taxis - because taxi owners know what's reliable and what isn't...
