Default Dumpies at the Diff,

Thought I'd give it a go, dumping the exhaust at the diff I had it done on my EB Fairmont so I thought it was time for the AU, the main reason I did it was so I can lower the car more, cause with the IRS they ran the system under the diff and it was forever scrapping on the ground and at night time looked like fireworks out the back. Sounds awsome!

here in SA its approx. The exhaust needs to be 1ft min past the last door of the vehicle.

the exhaust exits must be 30cm past the last door seam or something to stop fumes going inside the cabin.

mate, take a video clip on your phone or digital camera. transfer it to your computer and upload it to www.photobucket.com OR if its too big, send it to someone here who knows how to compress it, and they can upload it. i wanna hear this!! lol

mmmmmm sounds good.

I just had a 2.5" redback put on with the rear muffler, thinking without it, it would be too loud. Turns out it's not loud enough. The note is a little deeper but no where near as loud as i thought it would be. It's hardly any louder than stock! My sub rattles the boot louder!

No where near as nice sounding as that. Hopefully mine carbons up a little so that i can at least hear the difference over stock :(

Hi mate

I had dumpers on my EL2 XR8, and if I was you I'd angle out the dumpers else you'll end up blowing all over the back of your car (mine was white, after a 30 min drive it would be all dirty again)

Just a heads up.. Also, I found it sounds fluffy when pointing straight to the ground.

Im all for dumpers at the diff. Love the sound, makes any V8 sound tuff as.

The consequence is cops here in SA. You will more than likely get away with it for a while but on the odd occasion you dont, you could be hit with a canary on ya windscreen.

I have had a few cars that had dumpers. I tried with an EFI 5 Xe. It was ok but droney. Lasted a month before I changed it back to before after I got sick of it.

I had an XC GS fairmont which had exhaust dumped just over the diff. Similar results like shown above but not as loud. Kept it that way till I sold it.

As long as your cruising, you'll find its not intrusive. As soon as you open your beast up, she will sing to the locals like no other. Just be careful thats all.

yeah if you dont give it away that you have a chopped exhaust you should be fine.

The problem you'll face especially if you have an 8 is giving it the right foot to hear that sweet deep note.

I am thinking of doing it on my ute ... I want it to be reasonably hidden ... it's only a 6 though ... but had a nice lopey cam in it ... so idle is nice.

I just hate seeing the tip just under the rear bar ... prefer the hidden look ... much neater.

Although my problem is clearance around the twin LPG tanks ... I have to get a muffler/hotdog in there somewhere ... I only have the small rear muffler on the system now and it's reasonably loud.
