Anyone had to do this to their IRS AU? One of mine is fairly twisted and I'm buying a replacement but I'm just after any tips or tricks. The Max Ellery's book I have says it is a pretty easy straight forward job but I refuse to believe that lol.

Well what a drama. After deciding against the eBay shaft for
a) it's an eBay shaft and b) I need it NOW I went about trying to find one from anywhere but Ford. It soon became apparent that no one makes them, I can get heaps for a 6 cyl but they apparently won't last 20 minutes behind an 8. Fortunately for me Craig from RAPID PERFORMANCE put me on to a bloke that had a second hand one, s/h is good for me as I reckon it won't be the last one I twist. $150 later for the shaft with a hub on it and I am done. I'll whack it in on Sunday and test the 12 o'clock beer theory

Yes what your book says sounds right russell, but then you will need to undo the large nut on the cv shaft going thru the wheel bearings 36mm i think to pull the shaft out of the hub/bearing.
