Whats the best way to remove the badges on the XR8?

Eucalyptus oil.
Pour some on the back of the badge where the adhesive is, let it sit for 10-15mins. Gentle remove with fingers after. Clean surface area with bug & Tar remover. Thats what I did with mine.

Heat up the badge with a hair dryer on low heat for a few minutes. Then, use some fishing wiring and slide it behind the badge, use a sawing motion if need be or you may need to heat up the badge a little more (essentially the heating loosens up the glue). Presto! You may have adhesive still stuck to the car so in that case i would then use eucalytpus oil on a rag and apply some elbow grease. I've de-badged my xr6 and it looks very clean and mean - far from bogan!

Hair dryer will work, but I do believe the AU1 the badges were mountedthe old fashioned way. There will be holes under the badge. JC or GK will know more on this. Just a feeling I have.
If this is the case then I don't think a hair dryer will work. |

I've actually got a S1 so i can confirm that the "falcon" badge does have the holes-behind-the-badge type attachment but it still has glue holding it on and the hair dryer technique does indeed work and i would still highly recommend using this method. Due to the falcon badge on the S1's having holes behind it i used the normal procedure, giving it a blast with the hair dryer to loosen up the glue and then using fishing wire to pry off the badge. Of course the badge is still stuck on because it is still attached to the body through the holes in the bootlid, but this was easily solved by gently pressing the badge out from inside of the boot. It is most likely that the badge stalks that hold the badge in the holes will break but meh! Then it's just a matter of filling the holes with bog, sanding and painting! Schweet... the result? the illusion of a shaved sleeper i suppose?

I know my AUII ute has pins behind the Ford badge and Falcon badge.
As suggesed, the best way to remove them is to soak the area in Eucalyptus oil or bug and tar remover. Using fishing line like a saw, cut into the glue/double sided tape behind the badge and either gently pry. Don't use a screwdriver, one slip and you are up for a few dollars. The gunk that's left can be easily cleaned and polished up. |
