Hi all just a quick one have changed headunits in my car as old sony one was givin me the sh1ts lol. decided i want my steering wheel controls back and hit a snag. new unit is a JVC so brought the wiring harness APP9JVC5 with steering wheel wiring. Went to get second patch cable CHAU1A as mine is a S1 and low behold they dont do them anymore so ok a quick look at the CHAU23C for the S2 & 3 but the plugs look different. my question is are the plugs the only difference. Can i take the pins out of the S2 and put them into the S1 plugs.

Hi. The series 2 & 3 have different switch resistance values as well so the latter unit wont work with your car. You could use the std type harness to wire the head unit to the car and then use an axess audio universal steering wheel interface. The other thing to try is hit up the big car audio/accessory/parts chain stores and ask if they can do a search of all stores for the series one unit. Cheers MD

Are the buttons on steering wheel not the same, i thought all the buttons were interchangeable as long as they are AU. The head unit is in the car and working with the harness ( APP9JVC5) just not the steering wheel buttons as that is the harness (CHAU23C) with the black box im asking about and the axxess unit is about $100 dearer than the aerpro harness.

Hi. If you have the later harness and black box you could try fitting late au buttons. The reason they made two different harnesses/interfaces was because ford made two sets of buttons. Cheers MD
