I got the exhaust done on my NC 'lane yesterday, just a 2.5" cat back (actually Y piece back), straight thru redback muffler and a reso, sounds quiet at idle, and not that much louder at 4krpm, hopefully it'll burn in and sound a bit deeper... It's a lot better than having 1 completely rusted out muffler and the exhaust pretty much dangling on the road. It does however feel slightly more responsive down in the lower RPM...
I also paid out the remainder of my car loan (almost $2k worth) so, it's mine... and w00t. I'm going to leave it stock-ish, I can get PH4000 fitted for $600 and I've been told monaro cats are as good a high flow as anything after market and don't cost as much... So if I feel inclined to waste more money on it, that's where it'll go. I've just spent a bit on rego, bushes, idler pully, power aerial fixed; So I'm going to resent it for awhile. I have also replaced brake fluid, diff oil and a few other small things on it. Next in line will probably be power steering fluid, a bit burnt.. and my steering is a bit shagged anyway. Front pads and rotors will be going soon, not a lot of meat left and quite a lot of vibration at anything over 90k when braking now.... No pics, but who hasn't seen a cat back system? Very, very neat and tidy install... I'd highly recommend Carline Mufflers on Marion Rd. He's an older guy and been doing it awhile, knows his stuff... There was this incident with a gutter, hence the new 17" mags instead of 15" It's got a factory sunroof, immobiliser and alarm fitted (aftermarket) (it's a May 92, so series II but pre-smartlock???) and a decent enough sound system already in it... so I've got a pretty good canvas to start with... |

Hey FordFan86, why not an LPG conversion too? Save ya heaps. I never change my diff oil 'cos the dealer sold me the car put a sticker on the windscreen says "Warning: diff may contain traces of bananas and sawdust. Change of lubricant may necessitate the occupants to wear ear-muffs". :

j4m35 ya didn't tell me u paid off teh loanz0r! Woohoo for 100% ownage now!
I reckon you should fit a switchable shift kit ;) Nice cheap mod that's 100% reversible. Mine has exposed spade connectors dangling above my left foot, and it hasn't missed a beat ;) Well, there *was* the LHM issue, but that was due to poor earthing elsewhere (at battery, contacts needed cleaning). And get some stockies for the rear ;) |
