I've finally found a low K's EF engine. Now I need someone in the Adelaide area to fit it. It comes with all the looms and ECU and whatever. My 4 speed auto, power steering, Alt and aircon will fit straight on (So I'm told) PLEASE someone point me in the right direction to anyone with a fair bit of knowledge who can replace my perfectly good 3.9 CFI with this engine??? Any Ideas? Of course I will pay!! Don't forget "ADELAIDE"

Just remind me why you want to get rid of your CFI engine, when it will be easier and FAR cheaper to convert it to MPFI. It will give you gains in power, economy and Bank Account. It will also save you the hard work of taking your old engine out, and putting the EF in.
Just my opnion.

I have no idea how to go about it! I'm not capable of doing it myself. Will this increase my power? Do you know anyone in Adelaide who does this stuff. I've asked around the local wreckers and they just laughed and made me feel like an idiot! Any help would be appreciated.

I'd consider replacing the head gasket with the engine out of the car, and check bolt-ons like the dizzy to replace if necessary. You'll also need to decide between:
* Keeping CFI, converting to MPI or going for BBM and MPI. Each of the three options has a different inlet manifold. * Keeping your current ancilliaries or upgrading to EF ones, which would mean new EF radiator and thermofans My reason for changing motors was mainly 'preventative maintenance', which is why I am changing over the ancilliaries as well. I'd suggesting thinking everything through beforehand. You don't want to end up like me. ;) |
