Hi,
I need to replace the brakepads on my car soon and I'm looking for a pad that doesn't leave as much brakedust on my wheels. Any suggestions ? What do you guys use ? Cheers, Paul |

Both
I use Greenstuff on the front and metalkings on the rear. GS can be dusty if you are hard on them

I had lucas pads on my old EA and they were better in regards to less brake dust than whatever was on it before the change.
Brake feel felt ok for standard pads.

haha i gotta say both too since im running greenstuff up front and advance on the back. i much prefer the advance around the city, they had a lot more cold stopping power. but once im in the mountains the greenstuffs start working and i wondered why i ever used anything else.

simmo thats an interesting observation, because its the opposite of what i noticed???
i used to have metal kings all round, with DBA slotted up front and drilled and slotted rear, and the car required more pedal effort (noticably) to slow the car when driving in traffic with the metal kings rather than the greenstuff, which i have on all corners now. havent done much hard driving with the greenstuff in, but it did seem to me in the little bit that i did, that the pedal got hard much earlier than i expected, though it could just be that the car is obtaining higher speeds for a given distance than it used to...maybe they werent totally bedded in or something either... |

I've had bendix ultimates on the front for over two years now. I bought them specifically for a HIPO driving course, which apart from about 200km's prior, is where they were bedded in...lol...spewing I didnt get a photo cause until the faces of the pads were contacting the entire surface across the rotor, I had a rather bright blue band running around the centre of the braking surface on the rotor.
Anyway, I bought them with the idea that being a performance pad they could possibly be gone in 6-9 months, but I am still going, and too my shock just a couple of weeks ago I checked them again and on one side I still have about 50% and the other about 30%... best $80 I ever spent. I do a lot of city driving, and wherever possible I am not gentle on them. At the HIPO day they never once faded, admittedly they didnt cop the biggest hiding they could have, but 170kmh to 70 or 80kmh braking is not exactly easy on them. I dont know if its the slotted rotors on their own or if its a combo of the pads and rotors, but under long heavy braking I get a decent vibration through the front end, but I'm used to it now. |

i dont no wat my old pads were i think they might have been metal kings but they came with the car but they were s#$t they used to hardly work in the wet and required huge pedal pressure but i put a set of ferodo pads in and they work really well but they are really bad on brake dust so ill be trying somethin else next time. cheers.

I've got Lucas on the front and Bendix on the rear.
The Lucas pads have less dust than whatever was fitted previously and still got heaps of meat on them after 15k. Nothing special in the stopping department, but not too bad either imo.

I'm not worried about brake dust, I'm more interested in performance. I run Greenstuff pads on the front and they work far better than expected. In the nearly twelve months since I put them on, I've worn them down to 50%. Cost me $100 for the pair and I'm quite happy with the outcome.

I'm running Ultimates, but am thinking of giving greenstuff a go next set. My main gripe with ultimates is they are pretty savage on rotors, and with crossdrilled/slotted rotors, I don't want to be replacing them too often!

greenstuff is the way to go for less dust and more peformance over ultimates although the greenstuff pads are more noisy

its not soo much squeal its more like a scraping noise u get but this is with x-drilled and slotted rotors might not be ther on the normal or even thh slotted ones

I ran metal kings and green stuff with my old setup.
They are both as good as one another. I found the greens less dusty. the metal kings where a bit noisier. I run Ultimates atm on my twin fronts and slotted rears. Stops very nicely, when i have Vacuum.

Im using lucas pads on my car i find them to be a better pad then the bendex, less dust and they stop better as well never have any brake fade. I heard the green stuff are ment to be havent tried them migh give them a go next time round
