Lightbulb Lowering advise

Hey just after some guidance to the best lowering for handling and the cost (with installation). Im prob gonna go for springs and shocks for ma EA. Thanks

check with insurance first is my advice..Im with RACV now but not for long, just found out they only allow a 30mm drop, which isn't really what I am after, I want superlows.

Everyone seems to use king springs, so thats what Ill buy. As for shocks, monroe is in the same boat, but you can get better.

Installation, do you guys have the tyre factory up there?

Post lowering advise 4 an EA

Hey just after some advise as to the best springs for handling im gonna go 4 springs and shock to improve my Ea coz its just a touch soft. Any advice/costs would be great thanks

the best for handling would probably be a FULL Whiteline Works kit, and maybe some Koni adjustable shocks. If you just want it too look good and handle *heaps* better than stock, put a set of King spring Superlows in which are about $220.

If u go super lows you will need a shorter stroke shock or the stock ones will die immediately
Do you do much country driving, if so go with the 1.5" lows or you will lose your ride comfort.

Hey its good enough for Tickford its good enough for me.
(and b4 any1 arcs up im not saying Tickford use lows, just comparing ride heights)

Superlows run great on my stock shocks. I think they are about 220bucks a set or something? Got mine used for 100 put them in myself so cost was minimal. Insurance co. will sometimes have a bit of a complain tho so like polyal said, might want to check with them b4.

At the end of the day its an individuals choice what he uses but if standard shocks are ok with superlows why do they make short stroke shocks?

For thos who can afford them I guess! I will get some one day but the budgets a bit tight atm.

well my fronts are apparenty leaking anyway..so im going to go with the short strokes. I think at theis time I will go pedders comfort...sports ryders and damn hard

Hi mate you should check out the Monroe shocks. They currently have a deal going where you buy 2 struts & 2 rear shocks and get $ 50 bucks back.
I bought a set on saturday for my EF

hang n..some people call struts and shocks the same thing. I dont, why would you need to change the strut?

I think I know what I am talking about :/

Im doing shocks, springs and camber kit.

Shocks are the rear 1 piece set ups
struts are the front 1s but have the coil spring mounted ontop.
when u buy your rears they will come in a box as a pair whereas struts come individually and look completely different
rears should cost u upto $90 pair and struts will cost $90 each
x-series cars have 4 shocks like the rears on your E-series
commodores use front struts with single control arm but you can replace the cartridge in the strut i think,whereas the ford requires replacing the whole unit

so when lowering, I need whole struts not shocks? can you change the shock in the strut and not the whole thing?

Im not sure if they made sense...

Nowith the falcons you have to replace the whole unit and either use your springs or new lowered springs.
I'm pretty sure commodore's have replacable cartridges in the strut which are cheaper but quite often u gotta do the upper shock mounts aswell on the pre VT's so it all evens out in the end.
If u go shorter stroke with struts you are able to maintain your comfortable ride in most conditions with the advantage of better cornering from the lowered ride height.
If your only going lows you wont need the camber kit either.
My mate has been doing wheel alignments since he started his apprenticeship with the local dealer when XA's were new. He always lowers e-series falcon's and never uses a camber kit as he says a bit of camber is an advantage on a lowered car
The most important thing is finding a guy who knows what he's doing when it comes to wheel alignment.
