I was wanting to know the difference between the EBII Fairmont and Falcon. Also what is the average price between the 2 and has anyone had experence with either and found an advantage of one over the other.

the fairmont got full velour interior, electric windows, climate control extra interior lights. on the exterior it got turbo blade alloys, chrome body mouldings and a reflective rear garnish. the GLi goes for $2000-$4000 pending condition and the Fairmont $3000-$6000 pending condition. i only paid $6000 for mine and its a ED Ghia so your bound to find a decent one at a good price.

There's quite a few differences between the GLi and Fairmont. I think the main things that the Fairmont has over the pov packs is stuff like velour seats, elec windows, trip computer, better instrument cluster, climate control and a few other things I'm forgetting.

Hmmmm off the top of my head;
Fairmont features the Falcon doesn't have; Tacho dash Turbo blades Chrome striping Fairmont interior (velour not cloth, rear head rests) Trip computer Electric windows Automatic Climate Control A/C standard Auto only The Fairmont rear garnish Electric mirrors (pretty sure the Falcons got those though) Front bumper extension Rear roof lights Map lights Front map pockets Rear armrest Footwell lights (I think?) The light on the steering column? The light on the key hole on the driver's door? Fading interior lights Adjustable aerial height Probably a few bits and pieces around I'm forget. I've got a 1993 EB II Fairmont and couldn't be happier with it. Compared to many of the cars of the day it's got all the gucci electronic goodies. Infact there are very few electronic gizzos the BA has that the EB Fairmont doesn't. Only issue of course is the auto, but I think the pros outweight that. Plus it's probably cheaper to convert a Fairmont to manual than convert a manual Falcon (provided you find one) to Fairmont spec. Last edited by Psycho Chicken; 05-01-2005 at 09:11 PM. |

the fairmonts have a tiny front spoiler extension, like xe esp's.
and map lights? rear passenger lights?, arm rest in rear seat.... and more things to stuff up. i got an EB2 monty and its worth it for all the extras and "luxuries" |

I think it might of been a delete option, ask Jack, he was the one who told me I was wrong when I said it was standard.
List update too, I forget all the little things I don't use often. |

dont forget the little lights in the outside key section of the door handles. Bloody handy feature I miss on the AU.
Also time delayed interior light.

Didn't they have extra sound deadening in the engine bay as well?? It might be the EA's I'm thinking of though.

Well worth the little extra ($500ish) for a Monty as opposed to a POV pack falcon.

Actually I think all models except the GL/GLi had the sound deadening. My 88 EA S pac has it and I'm sure it hasn't been put in by someone else.

All EB2's got the sound deadening on the firewall. Was about bloody time as well, anything without that shit is too noisy lol...I should know ;)
Also, for interests sake the price rise for EA Fairmont to EB1 Fairmont was something like $900. Considering EB1 Fairmont was basically EA Ghia spec. $900 wasn't too bad at all. Whoever bought a EA Fairmont in 1991 must've kicked 'em selves for a while after that lol.. Sundeep |

Do the Fairmonts have the body coloured bumper and side strips optional, or is that a Ghia only option?

Nope, that was an ED thing. Only the Ghias got it too, might of been an option though.
John, EBII Ghia doesn't have LSD. |

The Fairmont had body coloured bumpers but a large grey stripe. LSD was not standard...even on the V8's....and god knows they needed it.

Did the fairmont get the variable dash light dimming? I know the pov packs have either dim or bright. Did the fairmonts have the cabin lights turn on when you pulled the handle up when the car was locked?
I think that in EBII Fairmonts and Ghia's were so close in spec that you wouldnt really need to worry about which one you got (unless you really wanted an LSD and ABS) |
