...so naughty, I bought new alloy wheels for the old ED Monty.
They are due to arrive today (hopefully). When they do I'll do a four wheel change and I'll post up the piccies.

Nothing too special except GT-P BA mk2 replicas made in 18" size, my personal favourite and I think 18 is a civil size, 19 is going a bit too crazy and the price of rubber is a bit more acceptable.
What are you expecting? But this Tempe Tyre mob are efficent, ordered on Thursday last week from Wheels Direct and the consignment came yesterday when no one was home.

Nice... those wheels suit the EA-ED shapes very well... And I agree about the price of rubber, which is why I went for a set of 17" Advanti Fluid
I priced tyres before I bought the wheels, and the 18" tyres are almost twice the price of the same thing in 17"... I didn't even ask about 19's... :P

Well here we go the delivery van arrived just as I stepped out to collect the consignment.
I was so rapped to see my two bundles of joy arrive. Signed off on the delivery paperwork and went to work fitting the bad boys. Heres the pics of the process: Pic1-2-3: Fashion shots, shabby I know, but I have to clean her first. Pic4: My bundles of joy! Pic5-6: Side by side comparison, no contest here. Pic7: Behold: King Spring Super Lows, KYB Shocks, X-drilled and slotted DBAs and camber. Pic8: Burnout mode. Pic9: Kind of reminds me of the pre-super low days. Pic10: Behold, this is what you need to do this. (Read note below.) Problems I met with is the size of the genuine Ford wheel brace. Its circumference is too large for the recessed nut holes of the GT-P wheel. To alleviate this I bought a 21mm spark plug bit and a large arm with a flexible head, which makes removing the back wheels a breeze. Otherwise you'll scratch the alloy, like me, but I only did it to one of the holes. She handles differently (read better) and the steering is a touch lighter and more comfortable to use. YEAH GT-Ps!!

Just out of noobishness, when you get bigger wheels, the actual diameter of the wheel and tyre together doesnt change, but its just a bigger rim and lower profile tyre?

- I'm not too sure about the rolling diametre, but side by side they appeared slightly bigger than the old stock. A mechanic recommeneded a dyno run to be sure that the speedo is still accurate.
- Around the 2g mark was the price, high spec tyres, delivery, insurance and commission plus credit card fee. - I agree the GT-Ps are the shiznit for EA-EDs and 18 isn't as far fetched looking as the 19's. No disrespect for the 19 runners. - Thanks man. I got them through Tempe Tyre via Wheelsdirect.com.au

Looks very nice. They look really good on that colour as mentioned. Hopefully they'll look as nice on my Polynesian Green ED when I get around to getting some.
Everyone mentions the 19's being too big, but I don't think I've seen it... Anyone got any pics? |

As far as I'm concerned they're two very, very nice cars. 18" or 19" doesn't really matter as long as the owner is happy!! |

the wheel brace issue is common with aftermarket wheels.
look into getting a BA one.
