sorry to get the same subject up in a different thread but no-one is answering my last post in the other1. to power 2, 4ohm, 800w peak/250watt rated sub, the frequency response d class appeared the best option at 1ch, 2ohm, 700wrms which means 350wrms to each sub. i then stumbled accross a second amp which is 2ch, 4ohm, 350rms. i know the second is a full range amp but which would be best for my subs?
full range = http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView...=&SUBCATID=595 d class = http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView...=&SUBCATID=595 again sorry for starting another thread but no-one will answer my last post and i didn't get a clear, definate answer. |

Are you subs dual voice cone (4ohm plus 4hom) or single voice coil (4Ohm)
Easy way to find out do they have only 1 set of plus and minus plugs to wire to the amp or do they have 2 sets of plus and minus plugs PER SUB? I have 2 x 2Ohm + 2Ohm Dual Voice Coils 300watt rms 1000watt peak running from 1 Class D Amp 500watt wired at 2ohm (25owatts per sub) It has awesome bass - my gf can hear my coming home from 2 blocks away. But i dont think its loud enough.

If its only for your subs then there is no problems, just go for the D-class.

Yeah D Class 350watts per sub
2 x 4ohm Single Voice Coil wired up at 2ohm Even know your subs are rated at 250 watt they will take 350 watt as its only short bursts at max power at any one time

The Two D-Class Amps that we(jaycar) sell are both Mono Sub amps.
The 4x100 that your looking at is a good amp, but for your setup id go for the 800wrms D-Class. I am Currently running a 2x150, with two of our metal cone 10" subs and it goes very hard, but they have 2 x 2Ohm voice coils. For your single coil 250wrms subs id definately go the 800w.

No problem with mouting your amp to your box, if you don't want it there or under the seat try screwing it to the back of the back seats.. |

nah i want it on the box but i read in 'in-car' magazine that the vibrations can sometimes cause components within the amp to come loose and it die. just wondering if anyone has had any problems of this kind...wot's wrong with jaycar?

There is no problems with mounting the amp on the back of the box, but make sure you have some airflow.
I have my two amps mounted under the floor in my boot, and have put two blower fans under there to give some artificial airflow. EEEWWWW, Jaycar? WFT? DO you guys even know what you are saying?

well there will be a bit of a gap between the box and seats due to the measurements of the amp so it should be sufficiant
