Get an EB2 and ED one as they are black. EA ones are a dull grey.

Wayne what do you mean they arent cheap? I've picked up one for $20 and I got the wiring loom from a wreakers for about $2.

Yeh you should be ble to get one for 20 or so... I have a few but im greedy and wanna keep to the myself! Never know when one will cease functioning. Check out someone that is wrecking an EB/ED fairmont. Also check out fordmods to get an idea how to wire it up. I guess modifications need to happen from low-series to hi-series???

I also have an EA one here you can have for the same price as above if his goes ahead, some of the clips that hold the face to the backing are broken but it can be held on with tape. It dosent affect the way it holds into the dash facia.
PM me if you want it.

The trip computers with the black buttons are from EBII and ED. EA-EB1 all got the grey buttons.

For the record, you can only use black button EBII in ea and eb, ED belong only in ED.

If it has cfc free on the front then it is ED and WILL NOT WORK in an EA or EB.

That's for climate control, Jason. He was asking about the trip computer. ED trip computers work fine in EA, EBs.

LOL. I guessed that. Just for curiosity, is that just the loom that's different, or is the trip computer itself different?

One of the few things I have not tried for myself to date to prove or disprove the myth

How do we tell the difference between a V8 trip computer and a I6 one??

Also yesterday I received a black faced trip computer from a member here, I did have an EA one in. I've put in a blue parker globe so it lights up blue, only thing is the clock, reset and search buttons are yellow writing on the black one so it lights up a dull blue, almost green colour. The EA one had clear writing so it lit up nice.
So is there anyway to get rid of the yellow or not? Otherwise I was thinking I could put in a heap of bright blue LED's and have them right next to the buttons to try and over rule the yellow.
Any ideas Jason?
