Default Cruise control randomly reverting to adaptive

I have a 2017 Trend. I prefer driving with cruise control set to normal. Without me changing the settings and in an irregular timeframe the car sets itself back to adaptive. I only find this out when driving so then have to remember where and how to change it back to normal - very frustrating.
Dealership checked it at the last service - couldn't find a problem! They thought that every time you turn the engine off it automatically reverts to adaptive but this is not the case as I have put it on normal, turned the engine off, left it for a few hours and when I turned the car back on it was still in normal.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a solution?
