Damn you sorted it before I got to guess!

You will have to take some pics to show what you mean about the 'third clip' as I have no idea what you are on about.

I recommend you get a new cable and insulator (the bit with the hook on it down at the gearbox end) anyway, and fit them at the same time as you fit the new cleavis clip, because sure as eggs they are going to fail on you.

$10 says your clutch will feel half as heavy if you get a new cable and adjust it properly

It also pays to ring round for cable prices if you can...
