Default Potential Short

Hey there,

I was under the car today checking the condition of my transmission fluid and its level and while i was down there i saw that the wires on the passenger side of the transmission were somehow ground back to bare wires. So i wrapped electrical tape around the wires individually then together... should sort it out...

What i would like to know is what these wires were for, it was the pair of wires that run to the 2 pin plug which is from memory the rear most plug on the box and goes to the same place as the 4 plug connector.

What would be the affects of these wires shorting out? Not that i noticed any change in the way the gearbox performed while driving... more of a curiosity thing

Cheers,
Simon.
