Default Auto 1st and 2nd only

Recently the auto box in my car refuses to shift past 2nd gear into 3rd + 4th. Even if you manually shift through the gears it won't go past 2nd gear. The car is an AU2 6cyl with a turbo running around 200rwkw. Before this the gearbox shifts were very clunky but I thought this was due to the aftermarket haltec ecu running the show.

I thought potentially it could be the inhbitor switch but the problem sounds like it might be worse then that. Unfortunately I can't check the fluid etc as I now live overseas and I was only informed of the problem by my folks. I wouldn't mind fixing it and paying the rego to keep it on the road but its kind of pointless if it can't be driven.

Does anyone have any ideas of anything else it may be so far I only have 3..
1) Inhbitor switch
2) Aftermarket ecu
3) Its dead
