Default todays xr conversion work

hi all

just thought i would post up a couple of pictures of how my xr front end conversion is going.

the front bar is booked in to be painted on Monday but it will have to live with a slightly mismatching bonnet for a little bit though :(

i was kinda hoping to wait till i had the bonnet but i was getting some "pressure" to get the parts out out of the shed.

anywho its coming together nicely

in the second picture the bar is just sitting there i pulled it off right after the pic and put it back in the shed

the bar i got from ford at trade price which was still $1100 :
i think they are $1300+ retail

skirts came from fibresports

the rest i picked up from ebay for a couple of hundred
i got it in bits and pieces as they came up

also i got the lights fairly cheaply because i got a couple of sets of broken ones and combined parts/beat brackets straight with a hammer to get a working set.

I have my name down on the fibreglass bonnet with BA bulge thread but im starting to think thats never going to get off the ground :(

Im still undecided if i should get the side stripes painted or leave them black. they look not too bad black.

i might even get them painted black so they are all shiny instead of that raw plastic look

top stuff mate. A little mod to the front of the gli bonnet to fill in the gap would look sweet. Keep that bulged section on it, would look different.

You could try NL Fairlane side moulds and bumper inserts. Then paint all the chrome gloss black. That would look pretty sweet.

Would it be possible to fabricate some type of induction using that gap in the bonnet?

I have actually already had that suggested to me by one of the mechanics at work.

something like the big SS cold air induction kits for a ba/bf gt could work out pretty nicely.

heres a pic from straight on so you can get a better look at the gap

over the radiator SS cold air would work nice

overall very nice indeed even with the EL Bonnet. It looks like a face!

i recon get the proper bonnet. i would have liked it if the bonnet matched up with the top of the lights better. there is just too much of a gap for me...

If you modified that bonnet so that the two bits over the lights on each side were done properly, then the middle would look cool.

^^^ I'm a thumb-duck and was about to suggest fitting EL GLi lights to close the gap :

Looking pretty good, but it definitely needs the XR bonnet I reckon.
