Dear dogs and cats,
When I say move, it means go someplace else, not switch positions with each other so there are still two of you in the way. The dishes with the paw prints are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Please note, placing a paw print in the middle of my plate of food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest. The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack. Beating me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn’t help because I fall faster than you can run. I cannot buy anything bigger than a king size bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue to sleep on the couch to ensure your comfort. Look at the videos of dogs and cats sleeping. They can actually curl up in a ball. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out the other end to maximize space used is nothing but sarcasm. My compact discs are not miniature Frisbees. For the last time, there is not a secret exit from the bathroom. If by some miracle I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, try to turn the knob or get your paw under the edge and try to pull the door open. I must exit through the same door I entered. In addition, I have been using the bathroom for years – canine or feline attendance is not mandatory. The proper order is…kiss me, then go smell the other dog’s or cat’s butt. I cannot stress this enough. It would be such a simple change for you. |

How true, that is.
I too have a cat that thinks feline presence is mandatory whilst in the bathroom and then complains if you slam the door once shes locked in with you.

Years ago I had a Bull Terrier X Blue Healer (80% Bullie), and her sleeping on the foot of the bed made me feel a lot better while working nights. I miss her and, in fact, still carry her dogtag on my keyring...always will. The way a dog or cat fits into a family environment is entirely up to the so-called owner, but it's very easy to have them fill a family member role if you let them, as they are usually happy to do so. Anybody who doesn't see it that way has my sympathies.

gees maybe i should tell this to the beagle maybe then it might realise that sleeping in between me and casper with head on the pillow and having a snoring competition with casper is not a good thing. oh and also i should point out that she is fully grown and uses the house and backyard as a nascar track. many a times the children or i have almost been punted by this action. but what can you do when she knows she is one of my children.

My grandfather has a Jack Russell, and she comes up here to visit several times a week. Her favourite spot is either, on the mat in front of the heater, or if it's Friday night, and I'm home dog-sitting, she sleeps in my bed.
I remember when she was staying with us after my grandfather had major surgery, getting up to close the window early one morning, when I went to get back into the bed 10 seconds later, the dog had appeared from nowhere and taken my spot. I tried pushing her over a bit, but I ended up having to go around to the other side of the bed and sleeping on the side that was cold. :

Hehe when my parents Shitzu-poodle, Mandy stays over, I end up being the referee in the middle of the bed with her in one corner and my cat in the other.
I swear blind that they spend the whole night just staring each other out! Ed |

When my cat had kittens, my male Dog went all maternal. If one of the kittens started crying, first on the scene was bailey (dog) and then the mother cat.
Bailey used to wash them and play with them, despite him being a 34 Kilogram Labrador X Border Collie X Rottwieller, and the kittens being barely 200grams a piece. I have (non digital (sorry)) photos of Bailey curled up with 4 little kittens barely a week old, all blissfully asleep. Poor dog didn't get much rest, because every time he dozed off, the kitties would sneak up and jump on him and start chewing on him. little terrors!

Lecia (Grandfather's dog) was up here tonight, looking after me while everyone went out. She curled up in my bed the second she knew they had gone, then when she got cold she'd run out to the heater and lie in front of it until she warmed up, then she hopped back up into my bed.
