Default My New Falcon

g'day all,
this is my new xr8 in gunmetal, wtih option 16" wheels & sunroof, exhaust and all the rest that comes stock. what do u all think.
Im prety happy with it. its got that little bit more go then my six had but not much more, mybe because the six was a manual. what can i do to get it breathing a bit better. would a k&n filter help much?
i'm thinking of dropping the rear down a bit, mybe with super lows and leave the front with lows. has anyone done this, how does it look?
well tell me what u reckon
cheers nick

Nice Ef, great colour and the sunroof will be a nice extra too. My car has super lows at the rear and lows at the front, doesn't look too bad, don't really notice unless I have 3 fat c%^&s in the back.

How hard is it to swap the springs in the rear, without droping the diff,
i've only changed springs once and that was because we did the diff aswell.
bob jane were asking $140 in labour if i bought the springs, and they said they had to aline it, or something.
i thought all u need is spring compressors?

Nice car mate, the rear springs are much easier than the fronts. I once had my rears done for $50 labour. I think spring compressors are the only special tool needed, though I don't know the exact procedure.

I Was Told Early In The Days Of These Coming Out When The Elmk11 Came Out With Extractors It Revs Another 500rpm So I Would Say Extractors And Better Valve Springs Will Probably Be All You Have To Do For A Moderate Performance Gain , Anything Beyond That Would Be Expensive.

Thats about it, compressors make it easier, but you do have to disconnect the panhard rod etc. $140 is perhaps a little high, but there is some work in doing it.

Not having a go at you mate, but how can you be bothered writing everything with capitals at the start? It doesn't make it any easier to read if thats what you are thinking.

nice car..
all you can really do before opening the engine to get them to breathe better is extractors and intake..

the reason i say this is the standard intake and heads are crap..

save around 2k and get some seccond hand GT40P heads and Explorer intake manifolds off an AU XR8. while the work is being done slot in a nice cam and it'll be great

Very Very nice ride, looks nice and neat.

I would recommend extractors and maybe a custom made air induction system, this will also give it a better note and more top end pull in the high rev range.

how did ford run the standard exhaust system. i popped my head under there this arvo. its got twins running strait through 2 cats and 2 mufflers. anything else that cen be done.
it doesn't really like reving past 5000rpm. does back pressure have much to do with how it acts at high revs?

yeah i have super lows in the rear of mine and lows in the front but it is a 6 and the 8 would bring the front down a bit more.

rear springs are a peice of **** to change. ive done it with a scissor jack before but it wasnt safe :P just jack it up, put it on axle stands and let the diff drop then use a hand jack and jack the diff up a bit to take pressure off the shocks. then take the shocks copletly out, swap the springs and put it all back together.

Yeah the rears are relatively easy compared to the front... :
Just get a gregorys manual or some shit and follow that.
