Obtain a hair dryer and blow onto the badge and guard to warm them. Once warm slowly lift the badge off the guard using a plastic scrapper. You may need to apply heat to the badge more than once depending on what type adhesive has been used.

You want to warm up the adhesive so that it is easier to remove the badge. You don't want to apply so much heat that it damages either the badge or the paintwork.

I used a combination of eucalyptus oil and kero to get the glue off.

Get pics when you're done.

will do, need to get some cutters onto the paint cos its looking a little wierd / faded on the drivers guard, and also some moron had drilled holes in the guards to fit the cobra badges...grr..

ive got a couple of little LTD doortrim badges that will look great there to cover up the holes... (considdering im making it into an LTD mockup shouldnt look out of place)

pics sometime during next week after ive cleaned it up a bit

No to the hairdryer method, if youve got crappy paint or even just a little sooky bit it can bugger it up. Safest way is to get a piece of dental floss, fishing line or something similar - then but strong, slowly work it behind the badge and just run it across to pretty much slice the badge away from the car.
To remove the crap left over, use some eucalyptus oil, then give the car a good wash, then use paint cleaner to do a top notch job.

My farther was a spray painter and the hair dryer method is what he used. It is effective in removing badges and pinstripes without damaging the paint (if done correctly).

On EF and EL the rear badges have holes behind them - that goes for the Falcon one and the Ford badge.

Typically any badge thats on the side of the car like an XR6 badge etc wont have holes behind it but you do have to check for the ones on the back. EF/L definately have them and the best way to find out if there are holes there or not is to take the taillight out, stick your hand in the cavity and reach down behind where the badges are located. If there's holes there you'll feel em.

I used a heat gun to take pinstripes off knackered 26 year old paint and didn't lift a single flake of paint.

Fishing wire is a great idea! I did mine with a flat screw driver they came off ok! But the fishing wire would make it riskless for stuffing up!
