Ok..this car has has been bullet proof until the other day, but I guess it was more my fault than the cars.
Long story short I was in the KFC drive through which felt like AGES, and I didn't notice my temp guage in the, all the way. So I shat myself and shut it down pronto. But then I had to move up so I crank it back on and then POP...steam is ****ing everywhere and right about now I am cursing my head off, and hoping my damn HG hasn't gone aswell. But all is kinda well, I push the car out of the way and have a look. Luckily (I think), only the hose that goes under the reserve bottle popped off and let all the pressure out. So i put it back on and get 8 litres of water from someones front yard : I waited until it cooled and then started her up, all is well and it looks like the head is fine because no vapour/steam is coming out of the exhaust at all. To my problem....lol.....now the BRAKE FAIL light has come on. It could be a conensidence (sp?), but perhaps all the steam/water fudged up a sensor somewhere? My brakes work just fine, I could do with new pads and rotors but I am pretty sure my fully sik EA cant tell what condition they are in? Its a little unnerving having that light on, I can handle the battery one but not the brakes...lol So what the hell does it mean and how do I fix it? Alas my good run was doomed form the start really. Thanks in advance. : :

You'd think if there was no brake fluid he'd know about it. Probably the electrical cable for the low fluid light popped off in the chaos.

My understanding is that low fluid = pedal has to be pushed further for the car to slow down. It's not a situation I've actually experienced before though.

your understanding is wrong well could be wrong...
there are two types... 1 works on the legth that the shaft moves inside the master cylinder, and the other works on the level of fluid. the first is more for older drum brake models that dont self adjust when the pads are wearing down... but the 2nd will still work, like your washer bottle low level light.. the washers still work, but not for long

remove the brake fail censor nad pump the brake hard a few times it may have a stuck differental valve in the mastercylinder then replace the switch. some times if moisture gets in the switch it causes it to fail, eg; washing the engine. dry the switch connections with air to fix it if it is from water and don't spray it with WD40.
