Default Coolant Temp sensor?

Has anyone seen this before?

On a warmish day if I drive the EL it runs great, but if I park for 5-20 mins and then start up after about 1 min it start to beep at me and shows over heating. Actually the first time I heard it beep I braced myself for the airbag to go off! The first time I sh*t myself but now I realise it's not overheating at all. After about 30 seconds it drops all the way to cold and then another 10 secs it moves up to the A in normal.

So has anyone seen this? Is it a bad sensor or is the instrument cluster stuffed?

Thanks

Maybe the earth is dud on the block, you need to clean around the temp sensor and clean the lead on it aswell.

Happens with oil pressure sensors oil (all) the time.

I got in my EL this morning and started it up cold (about 10C outside temp). It beeped at me 5 times and then the Temp gauge died. Dropped down to nothing and hasn't come back up since. I noticed when it was started it took a while to find reverse and was making a strange noise. What are the 5 beeps? And why would my temp gauge dies suddenly?
