Well My eb had a lot of annoying things thats why i sold it, now My sexy new EL is a great car apart from a few little things which are:

1: To much noise from the front of the car
2: The Transmission has a clunk between 3rd and 2nd :
3: it loves to :baby bott :baby bott :baby bott

apart from that its an awsome car few little dints and scratches but that happens.

Hope to come crusing soon too just got wait for one which doesent fall on and work night.

My complaint is that I have a creek in the front end sometimes and not others ..... its never there long enough for me to find it .... I want that fixed
the ride in my car is very hard .. I want it softer.

I got my car sitting nice and flat ... kyb shockers ultra lows and supper lows do the job.

Bad stuffs
  1. Uses too much petrol (think the thermostat is siezed, so it always runs cold)
  2. Has plenty of creeks and rattles
  3. Brakes shudder/vibrate under braking when hot
  4. The seatbelts are twisted
  5. Bit of a slow old hector.
Good stuffs
  1. Silky smooth (literally like new) transmission, hardly whines at all.
  2. Smooth ride
  3. Good A/C and heater
  4. Reasonably good body
  5. Dirty big 1200KG Hayman Reece harpoon on the back
  6. Mudflaps
  7. Dashmats
  8. Only cost $2000

Bad stuff
-Suspension squeaks and annoys the #### outta me.
-All radiator/heater hoses leak!! (gettin that fixed)
-Dodgy frickin idle depending on what you have running. Why does it need to sit on 1100rpm when the fans are on??
-Cant keep Heritage Green clean! I drive down my driveway once and you cant tell if ts been washed.
-minor brake shudder/pulses, as well as minor shakes at 100km. Some days.

Another vote here for V8 cooling system leakage.

Blend door motor.

BTR 1st gear ratio, and BTRs in standard form.

Cupholders aren't a problem for me :P

My old EB had never-ending leaks. The EL doesn't leak, had a dodgy coolant reservoir cap, replaced it and it's now fine.

The real no. 1 thing that annoys me in these cars is the dodgy front end discs, second to that is the front k-frame knock which I've had in every single E-Series that I've owned. Reverse when you've got it hooked to the right I think and then hit the brakes and *bang* the whole thing knocks hard. Anyone got a fix to this one? It was a known issue in EA, there were recalls and everything.

Hmmm, other than that any sort of squeak or rattle. All older cars have that though.

1. steering shake :(
2. dezza-spec
3. antenna stuck in the up position
4. fake woodgrain trim falls off the doors
5. dash rattles

I think I'm doing a really good job of talking up e-series cars, don't you?

Damn I always wondered what that knock was in my car, sounds exactly like what mine sounds like. Not really that annoying but still something i'd like to get fixed....

Not hard to fix, mine was like that too. Just push it down with your hand till its back in the guard. If you have a CD player I doubt it will ever work again, they never seem to for some reason. But who needs an antenna anyway? I can still use the radio and it works fine with my antenna all the way down.

Rips' ex-cab does that. I think the trans mount is gone when that happens. Makes for smooth neutral bombs but

Blend door motor is gone. In my old EB the same thing happened but I did a code test through the control unit and it reset something and kicked it back in to life. Give that a crack. Otherwise it's a dash out job, while it's out you can sort out the dash rattles ;)

I know the main rattles all EL's seem to have is a cracked top right dash mount which creaks on the firewall, front seat belt height adjustment locker thing creaks, ashtray's rattle and steering columns start making funky noises if you leave your rotors warped for too long.

Nah its not that beep. The low fuel beep is alot slower (eg beep....beep....beep) This one is fast (eg beep.beep.beep) hahaha i know my examples suck.

In mine, I think it's a blocked up heater core. I flushed it out about a year or 2 ago, and it has slowly blocked up again. My heater does work in a fashion, but it takes forever to warm up, and when it finally does, the heat is just enough to keep me from freezing. I've done climate control tests and it has found nothing else wrong. It really is annoying.

Oh and for those who haven't dont the thermo fan conversion (complaining about clutch fan), IMO it should be right up there on your mod list, worth every cent!

My cars been good lately, but these are the most common things that still eat at me.

1) My Diff Whining (its loud)
2) Random noises underneith the car that crunch n clunk as im driving, worse in the wet (has to be tailshaft/diff related)
3) It's just not reliable anymore.

My 5 main gripes would be:

a) Lack of cupholders
b) Tiny Brakes
c) Weak stock gearboxes
d) Gay wheel offset
e) Not enough steering lock ;)

On the plus side:

a) I've never done a head gasket
b) Current Auto box is smoother than most commo's I've driven, and it's got
178,000km on it!
c) Cheap easily available spare parts
d) SOOOOOO EASY TO WORK ON! You guys have no idea.
e) Big fricken engine that is strong as an ox, responds VERY well to mods, LOVES boost, and even looks nice sitting in the engine bay.
f) Handling easy to sort with springs, shocks and swaybars
g) Parts interchangability! All the I6s are interchangable, near everything else too with a little effort
h) They look HOT
i) Excellent visibility from inside the car - newer cars are teh suck when reverse parking or changing lanes. E-series are brilliant in that respect
j) Diffs are strong once you throw in a lockright, which is easy to do at home
k) Easy to fit a T56 into if you have a mig (I'll probably be selling kits once I get my car up and running as a demo...)
l) Go faster than the equivalent model commo for the same outlay on mods
m) Lots of room inside for long distance travel or carrying stuff (or being naughty in the back with the ladies ;))
n) Boot height is perfect for alfresco naughtyness with superlows in a EA/D
o) Center console and door arm rest are the perfect height to rest your elbows on while driving
p) They do good skids
q) A turbo E-series is special, whereas a turbo skyline/silvia/180/whatever import is not
r) Less likely to attract police attention than said imports
s) Said import drivers HATE it when you beat them
t) Easy to make fast

Thats all I can think of off the top of my head. Might add a few more later.

1) Noisy front suspension/steering/bearings (makes a lot of clunks and the bearings squeel when they are cold)
2) Drivers Door, got hit at safeway so looks crap and isn't water tight
3) Its not worth anything!!! I can't justify putting it on gas, because my insurance company will write it off over the smallest claim (can't argue tho, costs next to nothing for "farm" insurance)

On a positive note my cup holder works a treat!
