it is the constant stealing of the carport, and leaving my car on stands for a "few days" while a mod is being carried out, that my mum doesnt like. when i was fitting the extractors, my mum was grizzling about how loud it was!!! i just laughed and said, u just dont understand how my mind works. and the complaints i recieve about every dollar you earn goes into that car, why not invest in shares, BAH, never.

cheers
scott

Dad thinks spending money on it is a waste of... money.
Mum thinks it's too loud and "uncouth"

However...

Nanna loves it :sm_headba
But Pa doesn't remember it (or anyhthing else now :()

PS Damo, why not PM niko instead of commenting in threads mate? If the mods catch wind of these various posts, you might end up with a leather g-string imprint :( Not good!

Mum loves it, she takes it for drives every now and then.
Dad cant see why i would spend so much money on a car... but he quite likes it. I never hear the end of "so what'd that trip cost you?"

most of the family dont like the ONLY sticker on the whole car... oh well.

My parents don't say anything but they've told me numerous times that i'll regret the $$ i've spent when i get over it and realise how much money i've spent on the thing. Now at 24, I think their hope of me snapping out of it is slowly deminishing as the mods are becoming more frequent and more expensive. Should've seen the look on their faces when i told them that the only reason i havn't done engine mods is because a Windsor will be replacing the I6.

Mmmmm... sounds familiar.... Mum hates anything to do with car modifying. In her eyes, the more stock a car is the better it is. Dad is a rev head so he loves it, but is ****ed i have a quicker car than him LOL :hihi: :hihi:

Dad never liked me spending one cent on the car, but he always seemed to be impressed with the results, but until then, all he would do is winge that i'm wasting my money. My mum used be like that (not as bad tho), but she has learnt to live with it and now she is rather indifferent

My parents are ok with it, mum's a hoon at heart (manual EF XR6, and she's looking for some EL GT's for it haha). She thought my wheels where nice, but didnt agree with the lowering, she said lows looked fine... The manual she understood, the minispool she thinks is stupid (rightfully so) and the turbo may just be the last straw, she says I should just buy an XR8 if i want to go faster (marks for effort LOL).

Well..I am a parent....so parental comment at me dont really matter....but when my mum first saw my Eb.....she breathed a sigh of relief and said.....Finally...you own a standard car....

haha....well....you should have seen her face when I told her it was a V8.... And then my wife told her how she wants to drop it on its guts and stick some 18's under it and blah blah....It never ends.

When I lived at home both my parents used to whinge at me all the time about how much money I was spending on it, mum was just dead against it, dad agreed with the springs and shocks (stocker falcon ride height...*rolls eyes*) but kept telling my to leave it alone and save up for a house.

I know he is right, and I know I should...but I don't think I will regret the money I have spent on it...it's my baby

Funny thing though - It used to be such a battle to justify a mod, but when I finally told dad I had put a turbo on the car (about 3 months after it was finished lol) he just said "oh ok....well...good luck with that" - he has given up trying to talk me out of it

You pay the bills, you get to say what gets mods and whether its worth it.

Plus my mum tells everyone that their her cars and enjoys the attention.

She couldnt hack the coilovers in the supra though so i took them out for her

My parents eventually got sick of me taking up the carport for days at a time when I did the more 'major' mods to my old EA (engine swaps etc). My parents sound like Rmyer's parents. They would always tell me I was wasting my money and would just become 'Cop Bait' but they were always impressed with the resulting mod.

The best surprise I gave them was when they went away for two weeks I did a full in/out respray in a different colour

My parents really can't really do anything. Me and my old man seem to get along really well on the issue and if i need the carport to do work it's fine. As long as i put his car back.
They don;t like it when i'm doing sterio or work on the engine and creating alot of noise at night, lol

My parents like my car, dad loves the sound of the zorst, but he says it doesn't sound beefy enough high in the revs, he reckons it needs extractors
