never on a tow truck but been towed home twice, in 2 different cars in the same day!
11am: about 10km from home in the EA hear a crack so i take it easy and then i try to overtake a truck and snapped an accelerator cable...
12:30- pick up new accelerator cable in the XR and alternator seizes up. in EXACTLY the same place as the EA...
lucky my mate has a 253 hilux and a snatch strap...

And what a pain in the it was. Immobilser died while we were at the beach in Port Macquarie. GF is having a good time then cracks the shits when the car dies.

spent 2hrs waiting for the tow truck and 10mins for the auto elec (20bucks later) to rip the POS immobiliser out.

Anyway apart from that the OLD EB never needed towing. trips to qld from nsw. numerous from newy to tamworth and out west too.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4.../Tow_Truck.jpg :(

I think it's the first time I've had the EF on a truck, not bad for 4 years, given my record. My first XE and XF were on a tow truck a combined total of 9 times.

I HATE watching lowered cars get winched up onto a tow truck! I really hate it when the tow truck driver doesn't care, and ends up cracking a bar or ripping an exhaust off.

I had my fairlane on the back of a truck once... when it burnt down to the ground. It hasn't moved since :(

The ED has been very reliable, except for last night when I parked on the side of the road and got bogged in the mud :P stupid single spinners!!
Anyway... mums EA came to the rescue... used the tobar to pull me out

My current car, Zero (touch wood) and I hope it stays that way. My old EB, Zero but it did loose a fan belt once, and fixed it with a stocking (was surprised it worked as well as it did) and limped it home, but the old ZL three times, once for a fuel pump, second for failed coil, and last when she was written off :(

With this car never (touch wood) and the capri had to be towed home about 5-6 times, once when the clutch exploded, once when the float level in the carby jammed, once when the accelerator cable snapped (snapped 3 more cables in the space of a week too), then a coil went and something else but i cant remember right now.

My first car went on a tow truck in more of a cube shape (written off) I don't know if that counts. But the one I have now hasn't needed one yet so touch wood it won't happen in the future... until i sell it then I wouldnt give a crap

Just 1 hour ago, I went to put it into first to take off from the lights and clutch cable bracket on the bell housing broke! The two prongs just bent right back and the cable slipped off! So I got it towed. That's no. 1 for me.

Well as per the bottom of my sig, I blew a T5 to bits (3rd gear had more teeth missing than intact) a few weeks back.

Was playing with the accelerator pump settings in the Haltech and did a medium/fast 2-3 shift, *BANGRATTLERATTLERATTLE* I managed to nurse the car home in 4th, but when I tried to nurse it to work it wouldn't move, like it had selected 2 gears at once.

Had to call a towie :(

So it managed about 216,000km total with no known tows, 106,000km of those under my ownership and 8,000 of those with a turbo

The current T5 is pretty cactus after powercruise too, so I think I might need another tow soon :(

Twice for me, I'm joining RACV.

Ha a mate of mine has an AU ute, he's a member of the RACV and one night after a cupple of standstills his tyres were looking a little chewed, so he thought he'd call the RACV to tow him home. Funniest joke ever. we were only a K away from home. The towie looked confused. Ha

Towed once..Barrelling along the M4 Motorway in Sydney at 120km/h, overtaking everybody...then nothing, no acceleration,no noise (except swearing) nothing.
Call the NRMA, he says maybe TPI module OR Ignition Coil failure....err, thanks mate, who, what, where are they located? Get towed to Grandma Paydirt's house and try my luck with new coil (cheapest option first).

What do ya know?...Started first time !

The ute has been on a tow truck, after unintentionally lowering the left rear. The wheels studs were all sheered off, hence the left rear being lowered by over 100mm from standard.
