Default Is this any good?

I am debating whether to get this 95 EF futura that i know of.
I might be buying it for $6500 with 172k km's on it.
it has the followin mods
-JMM DEV4 head and cam
-Tuned extractors (not sure what brand)
-Mandrel bent 2.5 inch exhaust with Hi-flow
-3 inch intake with K&N pod filter
-Lowered on pedders with Blisten shocks (i think 2.5 inchs)
-Genuine Tickford Body kit
-Full clarion sound( 2 12inch sunbs, 2 6inch speakers off amp, 2 6inch plits and tweaters off amp, clarion touch screen head unit but screen is broken)
-17inch CSA rims
-3.45 XR LSD
-Converted to Manual

i need an honest opinion as to whether you think it is a good buy consider year, k's mods, etc

cheers

i would never buy a modded car. You dont know if the work has been done properly and also how much of a thrashing it has copped. I'd rather start off with a std car and mod it myself.

Good kms for an EF tho.

Wouldn't pay more than $4-4.5k depending on condition.

What issues do they cause besides not making claimed power increases?

they are renowned for causing timing chain issues (ie rattling which then leads to breaking which then leads to sad times).

Definitely too much for a 13 year old falcon, that said people are paying that much for Corollas that are older, but that is neither here nor there. A car like you described is probably worth $4000 -$4750 depending on condition, I remember 3 years ago my sister paid $6000 for a 95 Futura, with 150,000K on the clock, and since then prices have taken a nosedive.

For $6000- $6500 you could get a decent AU, actually a mate of mine recently offloaded his '99 Futura (AU1) on dual fuel, with 200,000Km and a factory fitted bullbar and driving lights for only $5000

You can have mine for that, but it has a few more K's, but has proven times to show for the mods done, it has practically the same mods, but a better exhaust, and no head and cam, but I can throw in a ported head. All this for a 99 model car.

Pod Fillters do nuthin but suck in hot air from the engine if exposed. Airboxed Pod Filters are alot better looks more stealthy and the cops wont notice

for that price u can get a nice EL or EF XR6 like Bourneys

Rip off just like most E series nowadays.

Heard many bad stories about JMM engines and the general overpriced components.
I've also heard dodgy things when it comes to their warranty/customer support.

Even with all those mods, at the end of the day it's still an EL Futura. At the very very most offer $5000 but even thats pushing it.

way over priced, i had an ef xr6 before the ea and i paid about $6200 for a 1994 xr6 factory 5 speed, 160XXX on the clock poly green with leather seats and that was nearly 3 years ago, I'd offer $4500 tops

Stop slogging JMM, I never had any issues with their stuff and found to be great in the go department and also the reliability area also.

On topic, Price is too high for a future. Offer $4k and feel good if he says yes.

Also do the usual checks, Compression, listen for noises, check if the manual conversion was done properly.
