plz help? amps

hey every body
can some one help me, i am looking in two getting 2 12 inch pioneer subs but im not sure what amps to use,both subs on a 4 channel or 2 mono block for each sub. it confusses the hell out of me, lol

i would go for 2 x 2 channel amps, and bridge them, better then a mono block IMO and 1 amp wouldnt power the 2 subs proply unless you spend a crap load of money on 1 amp, go and get 2 response amps, they are like bridged 500watts rms and the old man has one in his car, goes awesome

You can use a monoblock amp and wire the subs in parallel so that they are both acting as one speaker. Normally you cannot do this on an amp because they will overheat, but specilised monoblock amps can do this easily.

You would need at least 1500 watts. Go to Strathfield car radios, tell them that your mate Habib sent you to them and they could do you a good deal on a BOSS amp...

yeh just get yourself a nice monoblock Class D amp...

Crossfire BMF1000D or similar would do the trick !!

i had a crossfire pushing a 1ohm load for about a year, cranked pretty much everyday and no probs, very reliable !

how about someone asking what power the speakers can take?

are the speakers dual voice coil?

and if so what is the impedience of each coil??

give me some infoa nd i can tell ya a decent amp to get.

I had in my car a coustic 600se pumping 2 x Alpine 12" R series 4+4 ohm subs, that pumped hard but apparently it was configured at only 150 watts per sub

Now thats in the cupboard and I updated to an Alpine MRD-501 amp pumping 2 x Alpine 12" S Series 2+2 ohm subs, the bass is clearer and more responsive and apparently its now at 275 watts per sub NOW thats much better

I have purchased recently another MRD-501 amp so I can run 1 amp per sub but have to go back to 4+4 ohm as you cant configure a single 2+2 ohm sub to run of one Alpine MRD501

In saying this make sure you match the subs to the amp, dont just go out there and buy the cheapest bargain as you may not be able to configure it to run at the maximum power.

Eg 1 x 4+4ohm Sub = 1 x class d which will run at max power
and 2 x 2+2ohm Subs = 1 x class d which will run at max power

FYI Class D are 1 channel amps

FYI Class D is not a 1 channel amp (Yes this is an old post but i was looking for info on re-wiring front door speakers and found this thread)
