Default EA Wiper problem

Hi All

I have an 88 EA and at relative low speeds the wipers lose good contact with the windscreen. A number of people have told me this is a known problem with the 88 EA but no one has a solution.

Can anyone offer a solution? I am more than happy to buy new arms but which one should I buy, a later model perhaps.

Thanks

Have you tried to bend a little bit the Arms? It might help and PLEASE, if you have those CHEAP USELESS plastic wiper refills, get some GENUINE Rubber ones?

Just be raeful with the Wiper arms and the Bending ok? and also, make sure that there is no sloppiness in the spindle where the Wiper arm goes on.

put some tighter springs on, the old ones are probably stretched to the max

Hi

Thanks for the replies. Since this problem caused an official Ford recall I thought I'd be jumped with people who had worked this one through but there you go, proves you can't second guess a response to a problem.

Tomorrow I am off to the local Ford dealer to ask about springs and new blades.

I should have mentioned that I have taken the car to InTune who bent the blades and this helped. The car has been back to Ford twice to fix the problem (as part of the recall) but they just made it worst by grinding something.

Anyway the advice is greatly appreciated.
