Default XR Conversion Complete!!!! PICS!!!!!

Well it's done. Finally!

Apart from the XR bar, I added EL chrome moulds all round, kept my fairmont lower bar, removed the pin stripping, added clear side repeaters, bagded the tickford and ghia logos and added a BF Fairmont badge, sequential scoop and of course the custom plate.

Before:

And now:

Camera is quite old, the pictures really don't do it justice.
I"ll post better ones in show and shine once I've got the better camera.

The whole front was re-sprayed. It could be the camera. Its not very good, pictures look very dull on it.

Looks great. Well done. Just one small thing, I reckon instead of using an EF XR scoop alongside the sequential scoop, you should replace the EF one with an EL one.

That's in the works, Ford wanted 650 for 2 EL bonnet vents. I got EF ones from FTG for 150. They didn't have any EL ones at the time.

Well done on the conversion, its a little different seeing the XR top with the fairmont bottom. I can see the time and money you have invested in that. But Its not my cup of tea.

All in all, it was at the panel beater for about 2 and a half weeks. He did do other jobs in between mine. The conversion itself is very costly. I spend around 6000 dollars. I bought a lot of new parts, like the bonnet, moulds, headlights and incidators. Just how I am.

Overall it took a few months to get together, the tutorial on Fordmods helped a lot. I lost a bit of money restoring the wrong bonnet thou, which added to the costs. But it's worth it.

I should say the 6000 included

- XR Bonnet ($500) (New)
- XR Front Bar ($520) (Used)
- XR Headlamps ($1300) (New)
- XR Indicators ($200) (New)
- Front, side and rear chrome moulds ($600) approx (New and Used)
- The two bonnet vents ($250) (New and Used)

Total in parts was 3370. New means purchase from Ford directly.

I wasted $1000 in the purchase and repair of an incorrect bonnet which I am trying to sell at the moment, there was also chipping in the front left mud guard which was repaired, not to mention little things like bagding and of course labour on top of all that. All in all, it was worth it. You could probably do it cheaper thou, if you bought second hand parts.

I didn't half expect that for it to be that much... I would cost me about $4500 just for a GT body kit painted
