Default extra air intake

I have an EL Fairmont which has the cut out in the bumper to put the cornering lamps in if you wish to. i was wondering if anyone has run some piping from the cornering lamp cut out to the airbox? obviously cut another hole in the front of the airbox or somewhere it will fit to mount the new piping. is it possible, has it been done and would it suck in a lot more air giving you more power?
Any feedback welcome.
