Default eb v8 manual conversion

Hi there everyone

Im in the middle of a auto to manual conversion on my EB 5lt v8 and iv'e come unstuck with some problems!

I was told by a certain place that I could use the EB 5speed manual gearbox out of a 6 cyl, and change the bellhousing over to a v8 one and install it,

But the i've spoken to a couple wreckers and they reckon it can't be done!

So my question to everyone is,

Can you put a v8 bellhousing on the 6 cyl 5 speed gearbox, and if so will I have any problems fitting it to the car?

Any help will be much appreciated

thanks GeeMan

The shafts should be interchangable, if you can find one.

Edit...aparently they are not interchangable...bugga!

I think Banarcus ? Corverted his EB 5.0 wagon from auto to manual using an EA box. So it can be done.

It cant be done - the shafts are different

I have heard that you can cut and re-weld the shaft to make it fit but this sounds very dodgy to me - if it is actually possible

The imput shaft was cut and then lengthened. Heat treated, xrayed, crack tested... Still going strong. I made the mistake of believing the myths out there so I guess that I'm a bit of a pioneer in that regard. Dont forget about the ECU, leave it as it is and you will only have 100kW instead of the 165kW. Call the transmission factory in western sydney.
