I'm thinking about installing power windows to the front doors on the XR6 .
With our XR6 not having power windows from the factory , Will my ECU have the neccesary plug in for the power windows to operate or will i need a different ECU ?

Damn ... I thought all XRs came with at least FRONT power windows.
Must be a Series 1 model. Unless it's a lower model that has been made up to look like an XR6???

Its deffinately an XR6 lol , I rang Ford with the relevant vin numbers etc before I bought the car.
It was made in the first month of the Series 1 AU , Sept 98 , Someone awhile back put up some stats about the numbers with different options and there were about 60 AU XR6 with no power windows .

You don't need to touch the ECU. It's the BEM that controls this function.
It should have it. But you don't even need to go through the BEM if you don't want to. You can just tap into some power, hooked up to the ignitition, to the switchs, to the regulators, and your done. You will need: - New Door Trims - Switches - Regulators & Motors - Wiring etc or Looms from Ford If you want it to look factory, and have the 60 second delay after you turn off the key, you will need to wire up a relay, or wire it through the BEM. It's fairly costly, especially if you buy the Looms from Ford. Cheers

Thanks LG! I am planning on getting a setup from maybe a late model Forte that has just the fronts and get the black switches from Ford and do a straight transplant , wasnt sure about the door trims but yeah , they will probably be costly.
The only place I have spoken to hasnt got back to me yet ,so I really have no idea how much it all will cost. thanks again..

If you can get that, then perhaps sell the seats and your existing door trims. Each wiring loom is about $60-90. And if you get the one from eBay. It looks like you'll be doing a full 4-door power window conversion, which = $$$. Cheers
