Arrow Payslips for casual employees

I've noticed there's a fair bit of discussion about businesses and employees rights and such, so I was curious if anyone knows the answer to this question.

Does anyone know if there are any requirements regarding pay slips and casual employees - i.e. does the pay slip need to state when the employee works? Or should there be a roster signed by the casual employee to ensure all hours are being payed for?

Basically, my employers system is designed for ythe full time employees. It's a weird setup that even the manager doesn't seem to fully udnerstand, but from what I can gather it pays fornightly and pays for 1 week in advance, and 1 week behind (the pay slip is actually dated for a week in the future).
Now obviously for a casual employee your not going to pay for a week in advance incase they don't show - so they must be doing something different. But if I work, I usually don't get payed for that for quiet some time and with the odd future dates on the payslip it becomes impossible to work out when I'm being payed for - in other words I really can't tell if I'm not being payed for certain hours or days.

My sisters work they log there hours into the computer at the end of each shift, then the pay slips state whats been payed for. Is this just good practice by the business or is there a requirement to do this that mine isn't complying with?

Thats quiet confusing.. Mcdonalds has a punch in system. you type in your code to log in when you start work-type it back in to log off for breaks(never did) and then log back in. so it accurately pays you down to the minute.. unless you forget to log back in.. lol i did a few times..

Yeah i work at mcdonalds, Yeah just so it accurately pays you and so it saves the managers time. Its a good thing tho, like it gives the employees peace of mind so they know they are accurately getting paid, this box broke so the managers were rounding off shifts, like if you stayed and worked for 15 or 20 mins they just round it back to the nearest hour, or forward, depends how good the manager is. But yeah i would recommend it, for employers also, so they dont bother having to wright down hours and everything, but yeah they check it at mcdonalds just so they know everythings right, well usually.

cant compare maccas with the real world 2 much

Alot of jobs will need you to sluppy time sheets with how many hours you have work on each job so they can charge the clinet properly

at my work all causal's get a payslip at the end of the week with how many hours they worked on each day

mcdonalds used to give out payslips every wednesday but with 173 employees at my old work they found it a waste of time and posted it in each person mcdonalds website account which stored about 5 weeks worth of pay slips and you could just print them off

I do payroll for several companies using different software systems and I know that your payslip should state period of pay, rate of pay, amount of tax taken and also any annual leave. You do not have to show sick leave on payslips anymore but as a casual employee I guess you are not entitled to Annual leave anyway!

You should request from your employer evidence of what they are actually paying you ie: a spreadsheet or another piece of paper that states days worked and rate of pay etc... It is your responsibility as well as the employer to ensure that all work is paid for!

You can check out www.wageline.com.au for more info.

HeHe...that reminds me...better pay myself Thursday!! Cha- ching!!

i used to get paid a week behind and the pay slip used to come in the mail the following week, seemed to work quite well as long as you kept your copy of the time sheets up to date to check with pay slip.
