Default HELP!! I need an EF 5spd ECU.

Hey guys,

I have a thread in the wanted section, but I am desperate to find one, so I'm putting it here as well.

As stated I need an EF 5spd ECU. I would prefer an XR6 ECU but will settle for a non-XR one if it's the right price.

I have an EL 5spd XR6 ECU that I am willing to swap or sell as well.

Please help me! I am trying to get one asap so I can do my manual conversion.

Thanks heaps!!
Daniel

is this something to do with the coil packs ?

Why can't you use the auto ECU, even just for the time being...

Yeah the EF ECU has a completely different plug to all other models. The plan is to use the Auto ECU for the moment, but I want to get a 5spd one ASAP. The car has enough idle issues with the cam, let alone the auto ECU playing havoc as well!

lol - you have exactly the same setup I used to have. Took me about a week track one down in Adelaide - I even tried to get an AU manual computer to work (they have the same connection as the EF).

Have you tried the ISC restriction trick to stabalize the idle? That helped sort out my surging idle when I had a 1004-110 cam.

The idle is bearable at the moment, but I think if I stick with the auto ECU it'll just cause hassles.

Haven't tried the ISC trick, what's involved?

Thermofans stuck on as well?

There is a way to trick the auto ECU...

No, I haven't got the box in yet. I'm chasing the ECU asap so I don't have these dramas, but I may have to put up with them till I can get a hold of one.
What exactly needs to be done to trick it?

Resistor for the Trans temp link and one for the inhibitor switch... watch this space, will dig up the figures for you.

Try 36ohm for the trans temp link, 7kohm for the gear selection...

They would form a loop... i.e. the inhibitor switch would most likely have a voltage reference line (VREF) which operates at, let's say, 5V... the resistor goes between this and the inhibitor switch return line to the ECU... so you basically replace the inhibitor switch with the resistor... ie:

VREF ----> Resistor ----> Inhibitor switch pin on ECU

Might take some experimentation with resistor values but sounds like you've got plenty of time to read up on it
