Default What clutch??

Hey guys,

Just trying to decide what clutch I am going to run in the EF.

I am going to use one of the Xtreme Clutches from Adelaide Clutch because I can get a really good price off them through work, but I don't know what to get.

I can get a full circle organic lined plate or a full circle brass button type plate that still retains the sprung centre (pic below). With the work done to the car would it be worth getting one of these or not? I don't want to end up chewing the flywheel out or anything, but I don't want the clutch to die if it cops a bit of a hiding.

That looks swoit. I don't know much about clutches, cept for i'm pro at aligning them.. :hihi:. Why do they bother with the purple and making it look fancy. Is that a selling point. Cause it's not like people can see the clutch plate...

Is the presure plate purple too. :P Get the best one you can afford I reckon. Maybe even look at getting a lightened Flywheel. Good luck with it.

They also have a 5 puck brass button plate, but I think thats a bit over kill for my setup.

The organic and full circle brass button comes with a 900kg clamping load pressure plate which is apparently 40% greater than standard and the 5 button plates come with a 900kg or 1100kg (70% greater clamping load) pressure plate. Pictures below.

Dunno what the go with purple is, looks like it adds at least 50rwkw's though! lol.

The purple is just for branding.

My HD clutch setup from Adelaide clutch has just given up after about 15 months of service so ill i'm heading back in there some time this week to sort out something new. Ill let you know what we come up with.

I had one of these things in my TX5 and it was great! That's why I'm keen to put one in the Falcon.

I think the 1100kg jobbie would do a fantastic job at tearing a nice hole in the firewall and for the work that's done to the car I don't think it'd necessary.

What sort of differences are there in the driveability between the full circle and 5 puck brass button ones??? The 5 puck still retains the sprung centre, so it shouldn't be too much of a dog to drive.

I went in today. I ended up going the same setup I had before, heavy duty pressure plate and organic clutch. The ceramic clutch (which uses the same pressure plate) was going to cost alot more and will chatter, not what I want for my daily driver. They also said it wouldnt last any longer.

The one I am replacing lasted 15 months, never slipped (until the end), and had good feel through the pedal. Interestingly, the last one I got had not been finished, so was not painted. Funny that the "xtreme" stickers on the pressure plate cover the Luk stamps.

Too damm much - $350 and tomorrow im getting the flywheel resurfaced and the new pressure plate balanced and thats costing another $60. The ceramic one was about $550. They also have 10.5" clutch kits with alloy flywheels to suit e-series but thats double the price again.

I thought it'd be about that. Mine was a fair bit cheaper than that because I got it at wholesale price.

Come to think of it, I could probably get them for people through work and sell them to FF members at a discount, if anyone is interested let me know. Working off pricing I have here, I could do the kit for $302.50 plus $16.50 for freight to anywhere, so $320.65 all up.

I didn't know they did the flywheels! They don't have anything on their website. :/

AUII - Ill keep that in mind because my clutch has been feeling funny lately. No doubt it will go soon.

That seems like an awesome price to me; not that I know anything about clutches lol.

The flywheels are alloy v8 ones that are drilled to suite the 6 cly cranks. Look very pretty but more $ than I am willing to spend
