We left the glorious state of NSW for Sandy-er pastures way back in 1999.
The reason was my ever increasing disgust with the State Government.
10 years later, you (NSW People) still have the same government, and the Locals are still disgusted :togo:
Only an insane person does the same thing over and over but expects a different result.

Unfortunately I am also unhappy with the last 9 years of WA politics, there must be a place in the world for me,
Some where with the right to freedom from oppressive government meddling, realistic speed limits on appropriately build roads. cheap 100 octane fuel. and no crime. :
Any suggestions?
Sorry if a little off topic

Yes...
HRH Prince Leonard has decreed there will be no speed camera revenue on his lands.

Back in the real world..there are other governments in the world already trialing such systems.
I read a report from the UK by the AA motoring authority??, which made a lot of sense.
part of the deal was to ensure the right areas had the right limits so it all made sense to the motorists, and increasing the limits on true motorways to 75mph,
This was in response to a survey where 30% of respondants said the current limits on motorways, were too low (60?) and they recognised the importance of have a system where the motoring public had confidence and would buy-in and actually follow the rules.
There was also a bit about banning the use of speed cameras in areas where the primary use is revenue raising, and not prevention of fatalities.
Good luck getting any Australian government to even acknowlege this practice happens.

White Paper 2011
After recent trials of GPS speed control of cars, the Govt. has introduced a law where we will not limit your control of your car and cut your speed.
We will just have GPS tracking only, and mandatory fitting to all vehicles [old and new] at your expense. We realise you must have full control of your vehicle at all times.
We will just send you a monthly statement to you, of your speed infringements for exceeding the speed limit that we will decide is reasonable and safe, and you will not know what they are, or where they are.

[additional information, not for publication. This may increase Govt. income ]

I doubt very much that this will be implimented due to the reasons already mentioned in this thread. I do however, think that the gps speeding fine system will eventually be introduced. But how will this work? for example, ur behind a truck doing 105 in a 110 zone so u overtake. Well we all know how dangerous it is to overtake slowly, so in this instance you may get up to say 120 - 125 while overtaking. So will we get a fine everytime we overtake?

Probably. If you do the same thing these days and a highway car coming the other way clocks you at that speed, you get booked.

What happens if the system fails?
What happens if GPS goes offline (http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology...e-to-breakdown)?
What happens if a glitch in the system suddenly slows you down from 110km/h to 40km/h? Try explaining that one to your insurance company.
