Default AU bonnet

Hi all,

I need to replace the bonnet on my 02 AU3 XR6 and was wondering if the AU fairmont bonnets are the same (XR has a line in the middle). Also would S1 and S2 bonnets for a series 3. I knows its a simple question but just wanna be sure to not waste my time.

Any help will be appreciated.

high series bonnet won't line up with your grille... i think...

you'll need an xr bonnet or a series 1 falcon bonnet...

As above, any AU1 low series (Forte/Futura) bonnet, any XR bonnet (AU1, 2 & 3) and any ute bonnet (AU1, 2 & 3) are interchangeable.

The high series, or AU2 Forte/futura and all series Fairmont bonnets require a new latch when fitted to an XR or any other of the above, and leave a 1.5" gap between the grille section of the XR bar and the lip of the bonnet.

Are you in Melbourne? If so, try FTG.

As a long shot, try PMing GK - he changed bonnets a few weeks ago and sold his to a mate, but he may be able to put you in touch with his mate who may now have a spare bonnet.

I'm in Frankston but i actually need the bonnet at Dandenong as that's where i'll be swapping them over. I don't have a vehicle that can transport a bonnet around that's why it's making it hard to find one.

Are FTG out that way? (I don't know melbourne that well). If so, you could always have the replacement bonnet ready (I'd see if they have a slightly damaged one they could let you have for minimal outlay), remove yours at the panel beaters, and drive with no bonnet out to FTG.

Your other option is to get a bonnet delivered to where you need it. try www.interparcel.com.au and choose the TNT road option - they are pretty cheap (I can send a set of wheels from ACT to Vic for under 4100 throurgh them). You just need dimensions and weight to calculate the cost - measurements are easy (just measure on the car), and I'd go 25kg for the weight.

FTG from Dandy isn't far but i thought driving without a bonnet was illegal? that's assuming they have one there.
