It is repairable BUT a reshell would be the go and the cost would be way to much , the photos suggest the rear is worse than suggested and the write means only registerable in vic or qld , a cut and shut could be done but unless wrecked there are cheaper ways to find a car

Interesting thing is this car was sold at auction in Altona, Melbourne on the 16th of June this year.

It does not appear to have been registered in Victoria either. so it could have come from NSW only to end up back there?

Repairable write-off became a statutory write off several years ago when the laws were altered. You can repair anything if you want but you will never get it registered in WA at least
Errm no

What is a repairable write-off?

A notifiable vehicle is a repairable write off if it is not a statutory write off.

This decision is normally made when:

* The vehicle has been assessed as uneconomical to repair by the “Assessor”
* The vehicle’s VIN will be recorded as a repairable write-off.
* The vehicle may be repaired but is subject to passing a vehicle safety and vehicle identity check before it can be registered in Western Australia.

Surprise surprise, it's been relisted:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....=STRK:MEWAX:IT

This is despite the previous auction having a winning bid of over $10,000.

Worth very little for parts being an XT. You'd struggle to get more than 10 grand back on it unless you were a wrecker. Even they wouldn't pay that much for one of these with that damage.

Repairable = YES

Cheap = NO

I would be looking at around $15 - $18K for the repairs - depending on how much mechanical damage was sustained

The structural and superficial panel damage and boot floor is actually a pretty easy repair

Much more interested to see what of the suspension / driveline is bent from the hit

Either way - there are cheaper ways to buy a FALCON !!!!
