Default CC spotties in

Hi Focii, well I finally got my spotties in and love the look.

Bought the bezels (inc. CC crome bit) off Ebay UK, then got a spottie kit locally. Works a treat. The spot light button is located on the demister area and fits in perfectly. Bang on reproduction of the switches there.

I have a set of LS fog/spotlight bezels for any of you thinking to do similar, or making an in take for CAI perhaps? If interested, let me know (PM) and we can sort something.

Leakey

They look great! I wouldn't expect them to make such a difference to the front end but they really do.

looking good mate!
Been thinking of doing the fog lights soon - did you hook it up yourself or get a auto sparky?

did the connectiones etc and in to the cab myself, then just got a sparky to connect the relays and positive. All the other bits were plug and play.

Looks great.....certainly foggies make difference.
Did you consider wiring them to the existing fog light switch ?

In my pov pack there is no fog light switch, or loom.

In fact I am blown away by the 'deletes' in this car. Old school cars had the loom there
for everything. Then if you bought a part, you could simply plug it in and your away.
This gem actually has parts of the loom deleted!

I recently bought a light switch with fog position, and a dimmer for the dash. Then I started looking for the fog 'line' and two taped up plugs near the front end. They aint there!

I have found this with so many other parts too, where the looms are just deleted.
Surely only a few cents saving on materials, and no saving on labour. In fact you'd
think that having many types of loom would increase cost!

Dont know if this is an LT thing or just for the '08 update.

Also thought about the 'auto on' style light switch. Seen a few on EbayUK. but after investigation at Ford Parts, I need at least (4) wiring looms, (2) sensors and an ECU upgrade. Screw that! $$$$$$ I just quicly turn my lights on when I enter tunnels etc
and make people think I have auto on!!! LOL.

I actually like the extra button on the demist area. Most of us only have the one button, and I have the Nokia control for my blutooth there as well, so one to go...

Thanks for the +ve comments guys.

I've got the pov pack as well.
Try turning the light switch full on and then pull it out.
The switch is there for the rear fog and the fog light indicator comes up on the dash.
The only thing missing is the loom.

Leakey,

Did you by any chance investigate fitting Day Time Running Lights? They're becoming more common nowadays and I'm contemplating them for my Mk1 Focus.

Your upgrade looks the goods on your Focus, though.

I am slightly confused - must be lack of coffee today.
You say spotties but constantly refer back to fog lights.

Which is it?

Spotties: Must have a separate switch and only operate when the high beam is on.

Fog Lights: Must have a separate switch and can be operated only with the parkers on. No requirement for low or high beams. In fact, in many states it is illegal to have your fog lights on with your normal lights - as my wallet can you tell being $100 lighter for this.

well, after reading Hunters post about pulling out the light switch to turn on fog lights, tada a light on my dash comes on - does this mean I have the loom and just need to get the fog lights? Is this kit on ebay what I need? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Ford-Focus-05...#ht_1773wt_706

Pulling out the switch does turn on the 'bright' output on the rear fog lamp.

As I have no loom for fog/spots at the front, I couldn't tell you if the LS uses that function for the spots at the front.

BTW, the kit you have has the seperate switch in the demister area, not hard wired
back to the main light switch.

Warren fog/spot same diff' to me, when we're talking 'at the front'. Mind you the reflection in fog is pretty bad with spots on.

$100 for looking cool! Youch!!!

The loom won't be there......cost cutting on the pov pack.
If you don't want rear fogs then you could get the fronts wired to the existing switch.

That's an interesting point! Love it Hunter8.

But then again, I do like that little switch panel filled up with switches
under my stereo, which also looks nice!

Ive seen switches for demister rear, demister front, heated seats (small scrollers)
stability control, traction control and 'this' spotty switch - what else can go there?

[I've put a Nokia controller there, but it doesnt really integrate. I'll work on that.]

making wheel fog is like burning $5 notes: much fun plenty of visable action but hellishly expensive and does not get you any further down the road

What sort of Val'?

I have very fond memories of a 318 FIREBALL V8 in a VG coupe which could do that.
Also used to go from drive in to reverse under tha hammer. Interesting results.

I guess back then it was more like burning.... 20c pieces ?....

Haha, just remembered, we used to pour metho under the back wheels too for a spectacular show when things started to heat up!!

Maaan I was a naughty boy back then. [back then - chuckles...]

$100 and 1 demerit point for the record.
I think I got him on a bad day.

I did some research and in WA, you can not operate your low beam and fog lights at the same time. You can only use your fog lights when there is poor visibility and much switch off your low beams.

Spotties must be wired up with a relay - they can only operate if:
a) They have an independent switch
b) They only work when high beam is activated

I'm an ex-southwegan too. Blackwood boy.

You would be able to picture my old VG coupe at the drag stri.... er, road at the back of the airport.

Got caught doing blue flame burnouts. Apparently tower saw us and reported it!

"mind opening the boot?"
"of coarse not officer"
"whats with all the bottles of metho?"
"engine degreasing sir"
"ahah...and the rubber smell?"
"she rubs on full lock sir, bad shocker I think."
"ahaaah.... and the rubber all over the road, and smoke in the distance?"
"I hadnt even noticed that sir, interesting isnt it?"
"Yes it is. Well, we'll just be sitting here a while. How about you lads?"
"well, its been great talking with you, but we best be off home...."

They followed us all the way to Blackwood. I was crapping myself!

A lot of people bag the 360, but the Maros Bros (I went to school with them)
changed that forever with all their insane Chrysler creations.
