Default DIY service on LS Zetec...

Opened the bonnet the other day, 1st time in about a year, and noticed the coolant tank was very empty.... How do you fill this? Mine has a stopper under the cap...

you need to push down on it and turn anti-clockwise. Just like a child-proof lid. Is that what you mean?

I tried that there's no movement at all from what looks like the innards of a thermostat... What a stupid design.. I'll belt it out with a hammer I reckon...

It sounds like its broken, make sure you get a new cap before removing the inards of the old one.
